Day 2: Present tenses, Past tenses & Future tenses

 

1. Let’s have a revision of the present tenses, past tenses, and future tenses.

Simple present tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe draws a picture.

Present continuous tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe is drawing a picture..

Present perfect tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe has drawn a picture.

Simple past tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe drew a picture.

Past continuous tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe was drawing a picture.

Past perfect tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture.

 

àHe had drawn a picture.

Simple future tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture tomorrow.

 

àHe will draw a picture tomorrow.

Future continuous tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture at 8pm tomorrow.

 

àHe will be drawing a picture at 8pm tomorrow.

Past perfect tense:

He _____ (draw) a picture before I come back.

 

àHe will have drawn a picture before I come back.

 

2. The form of the passive voice

The passive sentence is formed by

i. changing the positions of the two nouns;

 

 

ii. adding part of the verb “to be” and changing the main verb to the past participle (p.p.).

 

 

3. Active sentences of different tenses can also be changed into passive sentences in the same way:

Simple present tense:

He draws a picture.

 

A picture is drawn by him.

Present continuous tense:

He is drawing a picture.

 

A picture is being drawn by him.

Present perfect tense:

He has drawn a picture.

 

A picture has been drawn by him.

Simple past tense:

He draws a picture.

 

A picture was drawn by him.

Past continuous tense:

He was drawing a picture.

 

A picture was being drawn by him.

Past perfect tense:

He had drawn a picture.

 

A picture had been drawn by him.

Simple future tense I:

He will draw a picture.

 

A picture will be drawn by him.

Simple future tense II:

He is going to draw a picture.

 

A picture is going to be drawn by him.

Future continuous tense:

He will be drawing a picture at 8pm tonight.

 

A picture will be being drawn by him at 8pm tonight.

Future perfect tense:

He will have drawn a picture before I come back.

 

A picture will have been drawn by him before I come back
